The band would like to offically welcome Zak Taylor-Smith on Cornet and Luke Taylor on Trombone to Newmount and hope they enjoy being part of the band! 08/11/07 We Welcome... The band would like to formally welcome back Heather Horsley to the band on Solo Horn. 25/03/07 Wing Wah Restaurant The band have had a lovely meal at the Wing Wah restaurant at Burton today to celebrate the huge success of Newmount Brass so far. A huge thank you to all of the band for attending and making the event a success. 01/03/07 Welcome... The band would like to formally welcome Jason Mann to the band on 2nd Trombone. 28/02/07 2nd Anniversary The band celebrated their 2nd anniversary tonight. Congratulations to Matt Croft who won most improved player of the year, Rob Salmon who won bandsman of the year and Bob Harris who won the attendance award. 01/12/2006 Success at Mickleover The band had a hugely successful concert tonight at Our Lady of Lourdes church in Mickleover, Derby. This concert as always was organised perfectly by one of our fundraisers Maria Neville. All proceeds for this concert go towards band funds and we are very pleased to announce we made £299 on the night. The band performed extremely well as we had our second christmas concert of the season. We performed three new pieces including Jingle Bell Rock, The magic of Christmas and Wonderful Christmas time. 01/12/2006 Happy Birthday The band would like to wish our Principal Cornet player Matt Croft happy 16th Birthday! Also thank him for coming to our concert even though it was his birthday! 23/10/2006 Congratulations To... The band would like to congratulate Tom Neville who has been promoted to assistant principal cornet. Also to Joseph Neville and Alex Suckling who have both been promoted on to Solo Cornet line. Paul Bucknell has moved onto Repiano Cornet and Rob Salmon back on to Flugel Horn. Also to Thea Turner who has been moved up on to Solo Horn. 13/09/2006 A Sad Goodbye The band would like to wish Simon Croft, Chris Williams, Andy Beattie, Sam Turner and Paul Griffith all the best of luck as they move away for university and college. We would also like to thank them for all their hard work in making Newmount Brass the huge sucess it is today. 17/05/2006 Table Top Sale Advanced warning that the table top sale on Saturday 20th May at Mickleover's Our Lady of Lourdes church has unfortunately been postponed. 17/05/2006 Uniforms! The band's uniforms have arrived. We have took arrival of band waistcoats and ties and are waiting on the imminent arrival of banners. This will all give the band a more professional feel. 29/01/2006 Coffee Morning We are holding a coffee morning on Saturday 4th March 2006 at Newmount Church. Please feel free to pop along any time between 10 - 12am. 29/01/2006 New Instruments From the money the band made at Tesco's Mickleover carol playing we have purchased a new cornet for Matt, a new Euphonium for Rachel and a new Baritone for Liz. This will help to improve the band, so thanks again to all Tesco's cutomers and staff for their kind donations. 29/01/2006 Congratulations to... The band would like to congratulate Alex Suckling who has been promoted onto Flugel Horn. Also John Hubbard has moved from 3rd to 2nd cornet and Rob Salmon has moved from Flugel to Solo Horn. 29/01/2006 1st Anniversary The band will be celebrating their first anniversary on Wednesday 1st March 2006. All band supporters and friends are very welcome to attend this event which will be at Newmount Methodist Church, Littleover at 7-15pm. If you wish to come please email or phone the band manager. 22/01/2006 Bowling The band are going bowling to celebrate all the hard work by everyone of the past year on Sunday 29th January at 11-45am. 03/01/2006 Tesco's carol playing The band wishes to thank all customers and staff of Tesco's at Mickleover for their kind donation of £1783.64 during the week before Christmas. 17/12/2005 A Sad Farewell The band said a sad goodbye to Tom Horsley who is leaving the band because he has moved out of the area. The band management wishes to thank Tom for all his hard work during his 2 and a half years with the band. 30/11/2005 Grant Application Success The band is delighted to announce that it has been successful in receiving a grant from the Area 4 Panel of Derby City Council. The money will be used to purchase band uniforms, banners and music stands. 12/10/2005 Happy Birthday Happy birthday to Tom Neville who is 13 today. 01/10/05 Tickets go on sale Tickets for the band's concert at Mickleover Church on December 17th 2005 have gone on sale. It was a glorious day and temperatures were very hot, but the band like true soldiers battled through to perform at their very best! |
